Team Fortress 2 Update Week: Free Weekend, Merchandise, Soldier Unlock

Valve have today announced the first unlock for the Soldier, seen above. This one’s called “The Direct Hit”, probably because it rewards those who score, well, a direct hit. It has a 70% smaller blast radius than the normal rocket launcher, as well as an 80% faster firing speed and with “25% more destructive force.” Also noted is the fact that The Direct Hit “guarantees mini-crits on airborne targets.”

In other news, the game will be having a free weekend when the update launches, so start pre-loading it now to be ready to play as soon as you can. I highly recommend trying it out. You might have noticed that I quite like TF2- sometimes I post about it on the site. Finally, Valve are offering some merchandise to go along with the event. It’s all excellent stuff.
