Content Thieves Tricked by Wily Website Owner
You might have heard of a site called Ripten. It produces a fair amount of content, and its writers truly work hard at creating great stuff for people to read. It seems that it is so good, in fact, that other sites want to emulate the success- by simply copying and pasting everything.
Of course, they don’t do it manually. No, that takes too much effort. No, this website simply uses a bot to grab as much stuff from the wonderful and brilliant Ripten.com as it can, without even bothering to check it before posting it and getting ad revenue from other people’s work.
Of course, the sexy, charming, well-endowed owner of Ripten.com hatched a cunning plan to catch the nasty stealing site out. As you can see from the screenshot provided (full one below), a quick post done by Ripten’s site founder was snapped up by the thief website faster than a crocodile with a spring-loaded jaw.
Obviously someone is paying attention at the site enough to take it down after a little while, but luckily Google’s ever-present eye caught it in their cache for us all to laugh at. And laugh we shall, on into the night. Feel free to join us.

So a few days ago I got pretty ticked about this website (which has Al Gore on the board of directors) stealing our RSS feed, image bandwidth, headlines, content, etc and wrapping their ads around it. I finally decided I had enough so I posted a temporary story on the site long enough for them to pick it up. At first it looked like they were wise to it but after checking the web a few minutes ago it seems they got the story … got the message … and will no longer be lifting our shit.
We live in hope. By the way, don’t try and look at that website. It’s only giving them what they want- hits.
