Nintendo Estimates Three Million Wii Units Sold in US During the Month of December
Nintendo of America said today that it’s estimated that three million Wii units were sold in the US during the month of December, although sales data for December and all of 2009 won’t be officially announced by the NPD Group until January 14.
In their press release, NOA also estimates that the DS and DSi set an all-time calendar-year US sales record for any console or hand-held system, and that lifetime US sales of New Super Mario Bros. Wii will hit 4 million since it launched on November 15.
“The millions of people who bought Nintendo hardware during the holidays can look forward to enjoying great games on those systems now and in the future,” said NOA VP Cammie Dunaway. “The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks for Nintendo DS, and Wii Fit Plus and New Super Mario Bros. Wii are all currently providing Nintendo fans with amazing experiences and fun adventures for the whole family.”
