Xbox LIVE: Seven Years Worth of Fun Facts

According to a series of tweets by Trixie360, the Social Media Lead for Xbox LIVE and self admitted pottymouth, the service has some pretty interesting data amassed over the past seven years of existence. Here are a few of Trixie’s tidbits:

In 7 years, Xbox LIVE members have spent more than 17 BILLION hours on Xbox LIVE. That’s more than 2 hours for every person on the planet! [tweet]

I don’t know if I’m more impressed by the visual of every person on Earth playing on Xbox LIVE for 2 hours or the fact that the number per actual Xbox owner is much higher considering the amount of people who don’t own an Xbox.

More than 100 million songs/tracks for music games have been downloaded through Xbox LIVE – that’s over 90,000 every day! [tweet]

Impressive, but I doubt that comes close to porn. In fact, I think I downloaded about 90,000 porn clips myself yesterday.

More than six million personal messages are sent between Xbox LIVE members every day. [tweet]

Most of which probably contain inspirational notes such as “you suck!”, “fuck you”, and “I just teabagged your face!” Heartwarming really.

There have been more than 1.2 billion downloads of gaming and entertainment content from Xbox LIVE Marketplace. About 100 per second! [tweet]

Alright. You win Xbox LIVE. I can’t imagine doing anything 100 times in one second. Not even sex … as much as I’d like to.

Here’s to another seven years!

[Thanks trixie360]

We've owned 3 different XBoxes. The first RRoD so quickly within warranty we were sent a new one, no repairs. The second one RRoD just outside of the warranty. Like, a few days, literally. The last: one month. It's currently waiting to be sent back to Microsoft.

Admittedly, I am prejudiced against consoles {fave mantra is “console gamers are you know…stupid”), but my beloved Sega lasted YEARS, and I bought another one still working the year before last. It's well over a decade old. And it still WORKS.

    XBoxes are pathetic :P

    I like your articles ^_^

I'm an xbox fan but I agree completely. The xbox 360, as far as build quality goes, is a gigantic pile of shit. At least the pile is a bit smaller now, what with the RROD issues mostly solved.

We've had 6 360s die between me and my sister. My current one, although working fine, has an issue where the sensor that detects it's orientation is bugged or something so I have to have the thing laying on it's side so the ring of light doesn't flicker back and forth.

I'm on my third 360 though this one seems a bit more stable even at longer lengths of consecutive play. My biggest issue in the past was the disc error and the game freezing up more so than the RROD, though I did have that happen twice. Overall though, I still enjoy the Xbox 360 when it comes to online multiplayer.
