They Might Have Fixed Sonic

I guess I could say something witty here, or maybe make one of those analogies you all love where I compare video games to some obscure band or movie. Instead, I will just let us all bask in the glory of this moment. For this… this my friends is the minute Sega finally got it right again.

I'd have to know more to decide if they've “fixed” the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise or if they're just trying to milk an old cow for whatever she's worth.

This seems to be in line with what Capcom is doing with the Mega Man franchise. I have no problem with it to be honest. People have been saying they want Sonic to go back to its side scrolling roots … this is definitely looking like that.

If Sonic or Mega Man have the good old retro feeling of the first sonic games from the 90's, then great! The 3D stuff just didn't appeal to me, honestly.

If Capcom and Sega can reinvigorate old titles and actually make them GOOD, then I applaud them for their efforts. However, I can't deny the nagging voice in the back of my head that tells me that they just can't figure out how to appeal to today's audience with new titles, so they're attempting to speak to us through the games we enjoyed as children. That way we won't truly focus on the game's quality so much as “is the game the same as it was.” Just a thought. =)
