The Witcher 2: From the Ground Up

What does a fledgling game developer with a golden opportunity to create a monster sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed RPG’s of all time do when they can’t find a satisfactory game engine to build it on?  Why, they develop their own!!  What does that mean exactly?  Much better visuals, much better gameplay, and yes . . . (perhaps) multiple platforms.  (Console RPGamers rejoice!!)

Watch the CDProjekt developer diary below!! (I HIGHLY recommend watching in fullscreen and in HD)

You can view that video, as well as the release trailer and a full in-game cutscene at the newly revamped, TheWitcher.com

What you cannot view there, is this interview with the senior producer of CDProjekt Red Studio.

Damn gamespot and their exclusives.

As for a release date, we’re looking at the first quarter of 2011 for PC.

Stay tuned for many more updates on what is sure to be one of the biggest RPGs of 2011.

I never did play the first Witcher… this one has caught my attention though, to the point that I'm considering getting my free copy of The Witcher out (got it with a video card) and giving it a run for the first time. Otherwise, what comparison will I have t put against The Witcher 2?

There's that, plus this game is a continuation of the storyline AND The Witcher 1 was a great RPG with gameplay and graphics that hold up exceptionally well 3 years later . . . I'm actually replaying it as we speak . . . it's just as deep and awesome as I remember.
