Sony Says Move is Not “Wii on PS3″

David Wilson, head of PR at Sony UK, has told MCV that Move is not just Wii on PS3- it’s actually “a complimentary product. It’s a different proposition.”
Wilson makes note that Sony have had experience with motion devices like the EyeToy in the past, and that they need to “educate” people about the “potential” Move has. As opposed to the “pick up and play” style of the Wii, Wilson says, the Move will be “about appealing to skill. It’s about the learning curve that’s built into the experience. It provides that satisfaction you’re talking about. The more you play the better you get. That’s part and parcel of the traditional gaming experience.””
Be honest, though. Move is Wii on PS3, isn’t it?
That said, it is more likely that we’ll see games much more skill-based, since the Wii seems to have backed itself into a corner of being completely accessible to all at all times. I’m hoping that this will be the case, but also completely cynical and skeptical. That’s just my default mindset by now, though.
