Microsoft to Announce 3D Plans “Soon”

Speaking at a Westminster eForum event (’2020 Vision – web enabled television, 3D and future TV tech’) in London today, Blitz Games Studios’ Andrew Oliver has revealed that Microsoft have plans for 3D in the works which will be revealed “soon.” With E3 coming up, the news is likely to hit during next week, most likely during the Microsoft press conference.

“Microsoft are going to be making an announcement about it at some point soon,” Oliver said.

“Oliver also championed the entire Sony company as a driving force for 3D, pointing to the fact that along with the PS3′s capacity to support 3D gaming, Sony owns the blu-ray format that has been selected as the industry standard for 3D film releases, and is a significant protagonist of the development of 3D screens and tech,” notes Develop, who were present at the event.

On a somewhat related note, 3D seems to be interesting only to the people trying to sell it to us. Does anyone really want to play games in pop-up-book-o-vision? Only the 3DS interests me in the slightest- and that’s because it doesn’t require those stupid glasses.

Don’t even get me started on the 3D tech. The only reason why I support it is because I want TV’s to drop in price even more so I can get a 2nd 50″ Plasma set for the other side of my room…………… That sounded stupid.
But seriously, give me OLED or GTFO right…
Also, if 3D on the 360 = no 1080P then they better not do 3D because I didn’t buy a 1080P set for playing games in 720P, especially when I sit quite close to my TV.
