A Look At Rock Band 3′s New Instruments

Rock Band 3 was only shown off for the first time two days ago, but now that the embargoes are up on the game, news is beginning to trickle out. The newest Rock Band news is about the brand new hardware, including the game’s awesome two-octave keyboard from MadCatz and the option 102-button Pro guitar, which is one of the craziest plastic instruments I’ve ever seen.

Both of these instruments are part of Harmonix’s push to introduce the learning of actual instruments into the Rock Band series, a welcome push in my opinion. While Harmonix says that you won’t be able to actually jump on stage and blow through songs professionally, Rock Band Pro (which utilizes the new Pro guitar) will teach you enough to have basic skills for recreational jamming.

I’m really interested in the direction Rock Band 3 seems to be going. While I’m not exactly psyched about plucking down a ton of cash for a bunch of different instruments, I’m excited to check it out myself when it comes out this holiday season.
