Konami at E3 2010

E3 2010 was a big time for a lot of people with the advent of 3D technology being at the forefront. Many developers announced new and exciting titles whilst already established games were improved and built upon with exciting sequels and content planned.

One of the big players at E3 2010 was Konami, a company with some big name titles under their belt in the form of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metal Gear Solid: Rising. They recently shot us over an email recaping their E3 offering. I’ll walk you through the highlights below.

A Shadows Tale: Also known as “Lost in Shadow”, A Shadows Tale tells the story of a boy progressing through a tower, the largest in the land in fact. No-one knows how it got there, or who built it but none the less it’s full of adventure and gaming goodness. The boy isn’t alone though, he has a trust companion in the form of a Sylph (An elemental of sorts) who will support him on his journey. A Shadows Tale is a Wii exclusive title and releases October 2010.

Adrenaline Misfits: Konami’s first ever Microsoft Kinect title is set to give players the chance to play on various boards as they compete against other players and their friends in all out motion controlled races. Throughout time players will be able to improve their skills and collect new boards that feature new and exciting powers. As this is a Kinect for Xbox 360 title, anyone can play the game and use their body as the controller. Adrenaline Misfits is a Xbox 360 Kinect exclusive title and releases November 2010.

Beyblade: If the name sounds familiar and fills your mind with spinning discs, yes you’re thinking of the right Beyblades. The Beybladers are back for a shot at the World Beyblading Championships and now you can take part as well. Featuring extensive customisation and powerups, how will you get to the top? Beyblade is releasing November 2010 for Wii and DS.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: This game was voted as Best of E3 by numerous websites including Machinima, 1UP.com and GameSpot. Set during the end of days, Castlevania: LoS puts players in a chaotic scenario in which players must fight to keep the Earth in balance and to save the day. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow releases September 2010 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

Dance Evolution: With Konami being the fathers (and mothers) of the dancing game revolution, they’re looking to reset everyones thoughts when it comes to how they’re played. Featuring exclusive Xbox 360 Kinect movement control, players will be able to get down and boogy in all new ways. Using your body to dance around in the lounge room has never looked cooler! Dance Evolution comes out for Xbox 360 in November 2010.

Dance Dance Revolution: Responsible for broken backs and aching legs the world over, Dance Dance Revolution is a well known title and series. With 11 years of experience in the genre and millions of fans, Dance Dance Revolution is looking to become another high quality title to the market. Look out for DDR next month on the Nintendo Wii.

Def Jam Rapstar: Capturing the essence of Hip-Hop, battles, music and of course swagger. Def Jam Rapstar is bringing 40 of the greatest Hip-Hop songs available to consoles the world over and allowing players to do covers of some of their favorite songs then have them uploaded to a fully implemented community website. Set to hit the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii, you can look out for this game in November 2010.

Gormiti: Lords of Nature: Based on a popular TV show, Gormiti tells the tale of the “Island of Gorm”, an island ensued in a never ending battle between two armies. Players take part in the battle of the elements, preventing the evil lava Gormiti; “Magmion” from piecing together an ancient relic and creating a portal to earth. Look out for Lords of Nature on the Wii and Nintendo DS in August 2010.

Karaoke Revolution: Glee: With a globally talked about TV show behind it this game is bound for sales right from the start. But for those who want to know a bit more about the game, players will be able to engage in 35 songs in numerous game modes. Look out for this game on Playstation 3 in November.

Luche Libre: Heroes Del Ring: Based on the Mexican wrestling sport “Lucha Libre”, this game is aiming to bring a plethora of well known Mexican “luchadores” into households all over the world. Featuring a more fast paced gameplay styled compared to that of WWE, Luche Libre: Heroes Del Ring is set for release on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and PSP with no confirmed date.

Metal Gear Rising: The next installment in the ever running Metal Gear series, Rising tells the tale between Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4. Featuring a more stealth action oritentated experience, players will have access to an awesome sword capable of cutting just about anything and everything. Look out for Rising on Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2011.

Never Dead: Never Dead is set during a world at the grasp of a demonic plague. It has been centuries since the world succumbed to a demonic force but now they have returned and are wreaking havoc. It is of course up to the players to prevent them taking over the world and players will have access to a plethora of a regenerative powers, for they are Never Dead… Never Dead is set for release in 2011 on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Ninety Nine Nights II: A high energetic game in a fantasy world full of huge battles, N3II is the direct sequel to the critically acclaimed Xbox 360 title Ninety Nine Nights. Featuring a mysterious world full of Goblins, Elves and Ogres, players take the role of “Galen” who is a heroic and prestigious soldier on a quest to reach Orphea Castle. N3II is set for release on the Xbox 360 in September 2010.

Otomedius Excellent: A parody shoot-em-up series and a sequel to 2008′s Otomedius Gorgeous, this game features nine playable characters as they’re pit against each other in numerous multiplayer modes. Available on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace the game is still awaiting a release date.

Oops!: A party game featuring over 100 mini games, this game is the perfectl title to break out and get the whole family involved in. Featuring 4 player multiplayer action and a bunch of fun, players will be splitting at the sides from laughter. Look out for Oops! on the Nintendo Wii when it releases in July.

Saw II: Set during the middle of the Saw and Saw II movies, players take the role of Michael, Detective Trapps estranged son as he goes through all of Jigsaws hideous traps. Players will need to think fast and act even faster if they’re to survive this title set for release on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in November 2010.

Silent Hill 8: Slated for release in 2011 on the PS3 and Xbox 360, SH8 is looking to return to the series to it’s original roots by taking place in a 3rd person setting and making players face their deepest fears and thoughts in a new provoking story line. The story begins with a prison transport vehicle overturning and throwing inmate Murphy Pendleton and other prisoners into Silent Hill. Left to defend themselves with nothing but everyday objects, players will once again come face to face with hideous creatures and dark thoughts.

Sports Island 3: A Nintendo Wii title, Sports Island 3 is set to get players on their feet in 10 new sports. Implementing the Nintendo Wii MotionPlus, players will be more involved then ever as they swing, flip and spike their way towards the winners circle across a variety of sports. Players can look forward to Volleyball, Air Racing and even Kayaking as they exercise and have fun. Look out for Sports Island 3 in October 2010.

Sports Island Freedom: Including 10 sporting events, Sports Island Freedom is set to give players a chance to play all their favorite sports with Xbox 360 Kinect right in the comfort of their own lounge room. Featuring Tennis, Boxing, Archery and even Paintball, families can get their hands on this game in November 2010.

Bomberman: Set to give players and old school dose of medicine, Bomberman Live: Battlefest will give players a chance to experience new content and have even more fun. Set for launch on Xbox LIVE there is currently no estimated release date.

Bonk: Brink of Extinction: In a world facing the tide of extinction, Bonk, a loveable caveman, must journey right to the center of the Earth to save his beloved planet. Set for release on the Xbox LIVE Arcade, Playstation Network and WiiWare, Bonk: Brink of Extinction is still awaiting a release date.

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair: Dracula is back. *Insert Evil Laugh*. Set to become the first exclusive Xbox LIVE Arcade game, Harmony of Despair is set to include fast paced vampire slaying action that the game is known for the world over. Players will also be able to team up as a group of six in a gametype called “Survival Mode” whilst they fight for their very survival. With planned ongoing support through downloadable content, this is a game to look out for when it releases in August of 2010.

Hard Corps Uprising: Classing Run-and-Gun retro action, Hard Corps Uprising sees players take the role of soldier Bashamut as he begins to write his legend. Featuring 2D side scrolling glory, players will use an all-new RISING mode which allows items and upgrades to be unlocked depending on level performance. Available on the PSN and Xbox LIVE Arcade, there is currently no estimated release date.

Rush ‘N’ Attack: Set during the Cold War, players take the role of a “Harvest” operative who is behind enemy lines with a mission of investigating Russian nuclear weapons. Players will be presented with dynamic gameplay that allows them to sneak or around or go in loud and fast in a campaign that sees them travel through numerous large locations. Rush ‘N’ Attack is awaiting a release date for the Xbox LIVE Arcade and PSN.
