Among gamers, the praise and disdain for Sonic Unleashed were fairly uniform. The daytime running stages seemed to get it right, delivering to people the sort of gameplay they wanted from a 3D Sonic title. Meanwhile, the nighttime werehog stages seemed to be the worst possible exploit of a loophole one could imagine. Sure, the complaint of playing as characters other than Sonic had been addressed, but it was not what they meant.

Fortunately, SEGA listened. And the result? Sonic Colors.

“I’m confident that the fans who were purely waiting for a Sonic action game will definitely love this game,” Producer Takashi Iizuka told Official Nintendo Magazine.

“[W]e’ve basically taken the best levels of daytime Sonic Unleashed which is what fans have been asking for and brought you a whole new game,” added SEGA’s Marcella Churchill.

From what you’ve seen and heard so far, does it sound like Sonic Colors is what fans have been looking for in a 3D Sonic? Find out our thoughts later, when we bring you our own preview from E3!
