New Mafia II Gameplay Shows Car Customisation and Damage Effects

A Slovakian gameplay video of Mafia II has surfaced, showing off the in-game car customisation options, some on-foot gameplay, and the detail of the damage model on the game’s vehicles.
The video shows the way the damage works on cars in the game- including the ability to repair the engine and blow up the car by shooting the tank. There are two modes of damage in the game- “normal” and “arcade”, which changes the damage model to aesthetic only.
Instead of popping to a Pay ‘n Spray like in GTA, one must have the number plates changed in a paint shop, as well as a respray. While there, there a handful of customisation options for your ride- which obviously gets smashed up as soon as you reverse out, in true gaming style.
Mafia II is set for release on August 24. It’s a good little video, and Mafia II is looking excellent. I’m a little tired of open world cities, but the gangster premise has got me interested in it. What about you, dear reader? Are you sick of GTA clones, or do you really like them?
