If you’ve signed up for the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm beta via your Battle.net account recently, then check your email! You could have an invite to join the closed beta, as it began today. Don’t be upset if you don’t get an invite today, though- Blizzard will most likely be rolling out more and more invites as time goes on, just like they did with the Starcraft II beta.
What’s that? You want details about the new game? Alrighty then, here you go, straight from the Horde’s mouth (I don’t even get the pun!):
The first two expansions, The Burning Crusade® andWrath of the Lich King®, each shattered PC game sales records upon their release. In Cataclysm, the face of Azeroth will be forever altered by the return of the corrupted Dragon Aspect Deathwing. Players will explore once-familiar areas of the world that have now been reshaped by the devastation and filled with new adventures. In an effort to survive the planet-shattering cataclysm, two new playable races — worgen and goblins — will join the struggle between the Alliance and the Horde. As players journey to the new level cap of 85, they’ll discover newly revealed locations, acquire new levels of power, and come face to face with Deathwing in a battle to determine the fate of the world.
Those words might as well all be Japanese as far as I’m concerned, but if you’re excited by World of Warcraft, or the prospect of leveling your players to 85 (A whole five levels!) then jump on the Cataclysm beta.
