New Super Mario Bros Wii Fastest Game Ever to Sell 15 Million Copies
New Super Mario Bros Wii has beaten the record for reaching 15 million sales in the shortest time, overtaking Wii Sports Resort for the top spot.
As of right now, New Super Mario Bros Wii has sold 15.05 million units in just 32 weeks (eight weeks faster than Wii Sports Resort). Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sold slightly more units in the same amount of time, but since it’s available for two (three if you count PC) platforms, this gives it an unfair advantage.
New Super Mario Bros Wii is only the 22nd title of all time to top 15 million units on a single platform. At the rate it is selling, we’ll see it reach 20 million in no time. Here’s a list of the only games from the current generation to reach 15 million units:
