64% of People Prefer Discs to Digital

A recent study by Impos MediaCT has revealed that out of a 1,000 person study 64% of those people prefer a tangible product over a digitally stored one. As well as that, 63% of people preferred a hard copy of their newspaper over a digitally accessible news website. Music and film were also preferred in hard copy with a 45% and 51% respectively voting they preferred tangible products.
When asked to comment on the findings Ipsos MediaCT Director Ian Bramley said;
“I believe the preference for physical discs amongst next gen gamers reflects the potential value they derive from the pre-owned market, which is holding up the preference for physical – this is unlike the music and film markets, Physical games discs have a long and well-established history, which is a deep mindset to change – particularly when gamers build a physical collection as they fear losing digital versions. And in-store browsing is also important to buyers.”
I personally prefer digital. It’s easier to manage, cheaper, your product never gets damaged, the list just goes on and on. Of course there is always the people who claim Steam and digital content platforms will revoke your licences one day, idiots. What do you think, digital or hard copy?
