Lost Nintendo Games Volume 1. Chibi Robo! 3

Lost Nintendo Games is a series of articles about Nintendo games that have been lost to Nintendo fans. This usually means that the game has been canceled or the game was just not released in a particular region for whatever reason. Let us not forget about the Nintendo titles that many people never got to play.
Lost Nintendo Games Volume 2. Joy Mecha Fight
Title: Okaeri! Chibi-Robo! Happy Richie Ōsōji!
Developer: skip Ltd.
Publisher: Nintendo
Platform: Nintendo DS
Release Date: July 23, 2009 (Japan)
Chibi Robo! 3 came out in Japan last year on July 23 for the Nintendo DS. Since then I can’t recall Nintendo of America even talking about this game even though the first two games in the Chibi Robo! series have been released in North America. This is truly a lost Nintendo game for Nintendo fans in other parts of the world since the game never made it to any other region outside of Japan and it doesn’t look like it ever will.
Unlike the second Chibi Robo! game, Chibi Robo! 3 takes place sometime after the first game. Jenny, the little girl from the first game, has grown up and now has her own family. You play as a Chibi Robo! trying to clean up her house. Based on everything I’ve read about the title it’s much similar to the first game than the sequel. You, as a Chibi Robo!, play in a house environment again instead of at a park.

Why hasn’t this game been released here? I’d still like to know. I feel like the Chibi Robo! series hasn’t been given a fair chance here in North America. The first game was released in North America in early 2006 for the GameCube when the GameCube was being slowly phased out for the Wii later that year. The DS sequel was released in North America in 2007 but was a WalMart exclusive game for a period of time. Both of these factors probably led to poor sales for both games. Also Nintendo never released New Play Control: Chibi Robo! for the Wii, but that’s another story.
It’s a shame that many Chibi Robo! fans all over the world will never get a chance to play this game. It isn’t too late for Nintendo to localize this game either since it is a Nintendo DS title. I can only hope that someday, somehow, I can play this game.
