Ōkamiden Bribes You With Awesome Collector’s Edition
In that earlier diatribe I had against Codemasters CEO Rod Cousens and his awful idea to “save” the video game world, I didn’t really offer any alternatives to spurring sales and combating piracy and the used game market. Well, here is a good one- give people awesome stuff for buying the game. Paying more money for the last few puzzle pieces to make your game complete is lunacy, but paying some extra rupees to get some sweet limited edition headphones? Totally okay.
While Okami was one of the most awesome aesthetically artistic games to exist across any platform, it really was released with very little fanfare. Things are different for Okamiden, its Nintendo DS adventure, however. There will be plenty of cool stuff to whet your importing whistle. For the price of over 8000 yen, or about 90 bucks in United States play money, you get more stuff than you can shake a magic Asian paint brush at. The game, the soundtrack, a DVD, a storybook that will most likely have fantastic art, a little Chibiterasu key chain, and probably the cutest earphones ever made. Order it through Capcom of Japan’s online store and you even get a Celestial Brush stylus, which would probably get you laid at any convention this side of the Kuiper belt. It all even comes stuffed in a big collectors edition box, which I will certainly use to keep my stash and paraphernalia my correspondence with my grandmother in.
