New Battery Design is Perfect for Your Wireless Controller

That might look like an ordinary AA battery to you, but this is a new concept design for a battery perfect for use in devices like TV remotes and wireless controllers; it can be recharged simply by vibration.

I’ll get the obvious out of the way quickly, to save time on it later: It could go in a dildo, yes. Well done, you’re the wittiest person alive.

Now, on to more serious matters. The battery is recharged by vibrating an attached battery-shaped generator, which can go in the second battery slot without too much bother at all. It’s unknown whether this would actually work with a controller, but since this is at present a concept design for a battery, we may well see something like this at work in a battery pack-style attachment for the controller- which is great news. Never having to recharge batteries is one thing, but never having to even plug in a controller is even better.

Here’s some useful info from a Redditor, which suggests that we might indeed be able to power a controller, given that the manufacturer, Brother, says it can handle up to 100mW of power consumption.

ZoFreX:

Good rechargeable AA batteries are 2600mAh (milli amp hours) and are 1.5 volts. Plugging this into google:

2600 millamp hours * 1.5 volts / 100 milliwatts

Gives 1.6 days. Most of my things that take batteries last longer than 1.6 days, so must be drawing less than 100mW per battery.
