Microsoft have finally unveiled the official RRP for the motion-sensing Kinect peripheral today. The device also comes bundled with Kinect Adventures, which will have you “navigating raging rapids and ducking and dodging through mountain top obstacle courses and exotic locations.”
Kinect will cost £129.99 / $150 / €149.99 for the device and bundled game.
“Kinect for Xbox 360 offers fantastic new ways to be entertained for the whole family,” said Chris Lewis, vice president, Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft Europe. “With full body, voice and multiplayer play straight out of the box, Kinect is a unique way for everyone to enjoy controller-free fun and entertainment.”
The new Xbox 360 4GB will launch on August 20 in the UK, at a price point of £149.99, and the US you’ll have it for $200 on August 3, but note that Kinect requires 175MB free space on your Xbox 360 to use.. It “includes built-in Wi-Fi N, 4GB of internal flash memory, touch-sensitive buttons and a matt black finish.”
Alternatively, you can buy the bundle with peripheral and console for just £249.99 / $300 / €299.99. I say “just”- it’s still a lot of money. Too much, if you ask me. Kinect looks all well and good, but for £130 it’s just not going to be worth it for me to buy it. However, that “ducking and dodging” sounds mighty fine…
