Epic Mickey on Wii is “More Creative”

Warren Spector’s Epic Mickey is a highly anticipated titled that’s coming to the Nintendo Wii. Whenever any impressive looking title is announced as a Wii exclusive, there are moans and groans over the limited capabilities of the system. According to Spector, that’s a good thing.
When Gamasutra asked him if he’s had any trouble with the shortcomings of the Wii, Spector replied:
“Constraints always push you to be more creative. I mean whatever the constraints are, whether it’s the constraints of a license, the constraints of a piece of hardware, I mean, no creative act is made better by being constraint free.”
While it’s common knowledge that great things come from adversity, the line “no creative act is made better by being constraint free” really got my attention. If Epic Mickey were developed for the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, would it not be as good of a title? Or do you think Spector is just trying to remain positive about the entire thing?
