Valve Accidentally Bans 12,000 Players

Steam is an amazing idea, and shows that the concept of the digital download can work and work well. However, with that success comes the danger of a glitch causing problems; and that’s exactly what happened over the last two weeks with Modern Warfare 2. Players were banned from Steam when their accounts were erroneously identified as cheating. The glitch occurred due to a “combination of conditions” that occurred while Steam was updating the disk image of Modern Warfare 2. Gabe Newell, Valve founder, issued a formal apology to the 12,000 players accidentally banned.

Players banned in this manner have been given a free copy of Left 4 Dead 2 as compensation.

I downloaded COD Modern Warfare 2 digitally that is. This is how I ended up on that Steam shit. So, after I played like 8 hours the game, Steam refused to accept that CD Key I had and there was no way they would give me another so I had to buy it a SECOND time! No wonder that shit like this happens when crooked people screw their members at will. Steam sucks, there is no way in hell I can change my point of view!
