Activision announced today the sales of the Call of Duty series downloadable map packs, and as of June 30, 2010, the map packs have accounted for over 20 million units sold.

“The Call of Duty franchise is unique in the world of entertainment and delivers one of the best multiplayer experiences ever,” said Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. “We are thrilled to deliver to fans exciting and engaging content that has the intensity they have come to expect from the franchise.”

The latest Call of Duty map pack, the Resurgence Pack for Modern Warfare 2, was released on June 3 for the Xbox 360 and on July 6 and 7 for the PlayStation 3 and PC, so the numbers are still growing. And with Black Ops coming out later this year, you already know Activision is gonna have plans to release map packs for that game somewhere down the line.
