Call of Duty: Black Ops will be Mod-Friendly

Treyarch have already announced dedicated servers for Call of Duty: Black Ops, but there’s another pleasant surprise for PC gamers- the game will be getting a developer console and the ability to mod the game.
In a post in the official forums by a developer, Treyarch have confirmed that they “plan to open the game up for modding sometime post-launch.”
The developer noted, however, that they’re not sure of the capabilities modders will have: “We do not know yet to what extent you will be able to mod the game. There are some purely technical issues related to engine and internal tool enhancements that do not easily fit the modtools paradigm.”
“Right now we are completely focused on finishing the game,” the developer said. I must say that this has taken my interest again- I didn’t have much interest in Black Ops, but if people are going to be able to mod it and play on dedicated servers, I might just have an excuse to play it when it releases on November 9.
