Sony Japan Files Patent For a PS2 Compatibilty Adapter
Your PS3 backward compatibility dreams may finally have come true. Sony Japan has filed a patent for a “new generation to previous generation” external adapter.
Early diagrams of the adapter reveal the planned device to have its own processor, a DVD decoder/emulator, sound processor, and graphic processor.
If you’re like me and own a PS3 Slim or any of the previous models without backward compatibility, this is very promising news. Although you have to keep in mind this is a patent from Japan and is still in the early stages. Let’s hope Sony gets this done quickly and out to it’s consumers with an affordable price.
