Cosplay Spotlight: Garrus Vakarian (Mass Effect)
In honor of the profound success of Mass Effect 2′s latest DLC, “Lair of the Shadow Broker,” we bring you one of the most astounding costumes from PAX Prime, and a sniper after my own heart. He’s collar poppin’, scopin’ and droppin’, and rocket-blast survivn’. He’s freakin’ Garrus Vakarian.
Holy miracles, Turian Batman. I didn’t think this was possible, but ammnra of Cosplay proved me wrong. So very, very wrong. I saw this project announced several months ago and checked back every now and then to review his progress, though I couldn’t bring myself to get excited about it. I just didn’t think anyone could pull it off. Then more pictures came. I saw the mask and nearly threw up with joy.
No, there was no reason to get excited just yet. I mean, sure, the sculpt was beautifully detailed and Garrus’ scanner was actually lit with LEDs. He literally ripped apart a Garrus bust from My Wicked Armor and made it into a wearable mask. What really gets my attention is the armor. Ammnra had never actually worked with any form of armor before and I was floored by how well his first attempt turned out.
He’s taken the internet by storm and for good reason. This is the first Garrus cosplay I’ve seen and it has set the bar quite high for anyone who hopes to attempt the same in the future. This guy has a ton of other props and costumes that I’d love to show you, like weapons and omni-tools, but you’re just going to have to check out his profile to see for yourselves. It’s all just epic and awesome.

This is some of the most impressive Mass Effect cosplay we’ve ever seen that didn’t involve spandex and cleavage. Our hats off to these fine cosplayers, they are full of win.
