Minecraft Has Sold More Than 700,000 Copies – We’re Not Surprised
Minecraft continues to grow and build a giant community. The graphically challenged and yet strangely addictive indie game is still technically in its alpha stage of development, but has gotten so much buzz that it has exploded in sales.
In fact, Minecraft has officially sold 700,000 copies and will probably continue to grow until everyone on earth has played the game. Most of the game’s sales have been from this year, when the game was more exposed to the mainstream gaming audience.
If sales stay at this rate, the game will have sold 1,000,000 copies by early 2011. As the game comes closer to the beta stage, the developers of Minecraft will be expanding the game with a new survival mode.
RipTen’s own blunders from down under (Bryce Wilson and Aaron Alexander) love them some Minecraft. In fact, they like it so much, they’ve started their own series about it – RipTen Adventures in Minecraft – What a couple of nerds.
In a related story, Dave still doesn’t get it, probably because he’s not cool and is too busy on PornHub.
Seriously, what’s the big deal with Minecraft . . . I don’t get it – Dave Oshry
