Square Enix can’t be too happy at the moment. They now expect a 1 Billion yen profit for 2010 and even though that sounds lovely, their original prediction was 12 Billion yen.

Somewhere amidst the 11 Billion yen difference, profits from the upcoming Deus Ex game have to had been factored in, hence the game is being pushed back to the next “fiscal” year. Square Enix’s catalogue this year has certainly been middling, so it’s no surprise to me that they aren’t sitting atop the world, though it’s a huge shame when something that’s as genuinely interesting and promising as Deus Ex: Human Revolution suffers from the repercussions.
