HoN Goes Casual with Version 2.0

I’m just going to come out and say it – Heroes of Newerth is a breeding ground for assholes. Luckily, with the new HoN 2.0 – you too can hang out with the elitist jerkwads.
Oh, there’s also a map editor and some other cool new features, but you’re super L337 at HoN so you probably already knew that.
S2 had this to say:
HoN 2.0 features a more action-packed game style that will enhance the adrenaline factor for hardcore gamers and attract more casual gamers, a growing breed of HoN players. In addition to enhanced visual elements, a 3V3 map and map editor, and cosmetic items shop, HoN 2.0 easily matches teammates with a new Match Making System. HoN 2.0 also introduces an entirely new game play mode – Casual Mode – that lowers the barrier to entry for new and casual gamers.
Casual HoN players? You mean League of Legends players that are too scared to try HoN easy mode amirite? :-p
Ok, enough snarky bullshit – check out the trailer:
Here’s a preview of Casual Mode – which I played a bit of yesterday:
Did ya notice the stomping of IceFrogs at the end? Yah … /sickburn
So like I said, yesterday I jumped into a few Casual Mode games. Now, while I’m a decent HoN player who somehow manages to keep my PSR > 1650 and not get constantly yelled at by guys who are way better than me – I found that playing in casual mode was a nice break from the hardcore bullshit that transpires normally in any given game of HoN. The XP came faster, the respawn times were shorter, and the players were generally more relaxed. As someone who doesn’t have time to play games like HoN much anymore (gotta edit this f**king website all day) it’s nice to know that I can get into a more relaxed game and not feel a ton of pressure to not suck.
Well done S2 – you consistently prove that you are fully committed to supporting your games and your player base. For that, RipTen thanks you. :-)
For more info on HoN 2.0 and casual mode go to HeroesOfNewerth.com – they’ve prepared a five page .PDF on casual mode complete with line graphs and bar charts . . . I’m not kidding.
