Black Ops Patch 1.05 Doesn’t Satisfy Many PS3 Players

Early this morning, Treyarch and Activision released Patch 1.05 to correct the pressing problems affecting the PS3 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops.

As reported, after Patch 1.04, PS3 owners have had problems with connections, game freezes and crashes while playing the popular shooter.  Some gamers had offered solutions, but despite their efforts, the problems continued.

Patch 1.05 was designed to fix many of these issues… but PS3 owners are still not satisfied and many claim that the problems still exist.  Just take a look at comments from the official Black Ops Forums and RipTen’s own readers:

so hacked off with the game im going to list the problems and hope someone from treyarch will actually listen to the problems. going to try and put them in order of the patchies newest first. please dont go on that my internet is no good cause its fine with all other games.

*when i scope to snipe i have no cross hairs my whole screen zooms in
*on more than one occasion my red dot sight has been on fire and cant see a thing when aiming
*falling out of the map through the ground
*when choosing a class cant select certain guns i select it then i just watch other people
*constent frezzing at all different points in the game
*killstreaks not working eg getting 7 kills and not getting my helicopter
*no sound in my game except gun fire so you cant hear when an enemys plane or helicopter or whatever is coming or when your claymore gets blown up
*constant chucking from games
*constant connection interuptions
*from day one of this game coming out never been able to play with friends hosting or invited
*spawning next to people headquarters is a nightmare for it
*mics not working properly
*stuck on strict nat type
* voting doesnt seem to work for the next map the highest voted map doesnt load

there are probably more just cant think of them, im sure a lot of you have similar problems some of mine seem quite strange like the sinping one.treyarch please sort things out since day one this game has been a flop and i cant believe im still trying to play it. as for the new map pack that really needs to be free. oh yeah and the range on pistols is stupid playing today and i shot someone from miles away dont know how to upload the vid on here or i would.

Thank you for taking the industry titan of Call of Duty and crashing it into the ground as hard as possible.

Ive been playing Call of Duty since the original demo. I have played every single one. The ones from Infinity Ward? Epic. The ones from you? Garbage.

You dont capture the feeling, you dont capture the essence, you just throw some crap together and it only sells because it has the “Call of Duty” label on it.

Now, onto the current problem. No use griping about the older pieces of crap you put out (CoD 3, and WaW), lets just focus on Black Ops:

This is not Momento. This is Call of Duty. Not a psychological thriller. Cut the schizo B.S. I dont even know what the storyline was about other than something about toxic gas, assassinating Fidel, almost assassinating JFK, punching a dude in the mouth with glass, and then someone who died really didnt die.

What. The. Hell.

Your whole game lacked (1) A decent storyline, (2) any ‘wow’ factors (example: Even tho its not possible, seeing a nuke explode in space and destroy the space station was pretty amazing….and in Modern Warfare 1, flying in the helo, only to have the nuke go off….and in the Original Call of Duty, the Red Square charge? Brilliant combination of music and gameplay). (3) MUSIC. How are you going to follow the CoD franchise after Hans Zimmer and have crappier music than Justin Beiber?……and finally (4) DECENT CONNECTIVITY. I swear it is a gift from Jesus, Mary, and Joseph if I can play an entire game without getting a connection interrupted and subsequently dropped. Not to mention the 10 minutes it takes to connect to a server.

Normally, patches are supposed to FIX the game. Instead, your patches just seem to screw it up even more. I cant even connect to a party with this new patch.

Please, cut your losses and walk away. I know you are already working on DLC (of course to release on the XBox first, because to hell with the PS3 users, I guess we are the equivalent of the “steerage” class on the Titanic), and you are probably going to charge out the ass for 3 or 4 maps, but at least do us all a favor and never make a Call of Duty game again. If Infinity Ward is no longer, I would rather not have a Call of Duty game than take your piss-poor imitation.

I’m on open NAT with UPnP enabled and under DMZ. My search preferences are set to “Locale Only”. I have had no other issues with any other game with connectivity, just Black Ops!!!

I’ve downloaded and installed the 1.05 patch. Was booted from the very first pre-game lobby I joined with a party while the game was loading. Everybody in the party backed out and rejoined, and restarted the process to get back to a pre-game lobby. We joined the pre-game lobby, we all were not able to vote on the maps (ongoing problem in joining pre-game lobbies since release), and we entered the game. Within 2 1/2 mins of the first game there was an unsuccessful host migration and everyone was booted out.

just updated there now and now and had to reset my playstation twice because it froze and now my rank is reset wtf? i thought it would fix itself but i tried a game and it let me rank up so it doesn’t look like its going to change back !!!

i had the same problem, i also had semi-frequent look ups after 1.04 its almost like they’re doing the opposite of what we ask them to lol, having said that there are probably millions of lines of code they have sift through… cant be easy lol.

It seems Treyarch still has quite a few issues to solve in future patches.  While there is no denying CoD as a brand is the most popular FPS series on the PlayStation 3, Treyarch and Activision are running the risk of losing customers.  While many point to MW2 as a problematic experience that gamers came back to, MW2 never had this many issues – especially with the problems plaguing one platform far more than another.

It’s important that Activision do something to remedy or at least try to make up for this unfortunate situation.  Free Map Packs? Unlikely, but it wouldn’t be a bad start.

      Yeah that’s it. “Microsoft paid off Activision”. It doesn’t have anything to do with the FACT that the Xbox 360 is easier for developers to develop on. It’s not like almost every multi-platform game out there was originally developed on the Xbox then ported to the PS3. BioShock 1-2, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Call of Duty 4, WAW, MW2, Black Ops, Bad Company 2, Quake Wars, Orange Box, Lost Planet 1-2. I could go on…but yeah it’s because Microsoft Paid Activision. That has to be it. Or they screwed up the game and are doing their best to fix the issues.

    Hi, im 15 and also a PS3 CoD Gamer. I belive Activision is a load of money hungry pricks, Treyarch cant code for shit…..or even mak e a CoD game as good as Infinity Wards. I must admit Black ops had an impressive sales, but that doesnt mean they made a good game, BUT GODDAMN so much things going on with BO, not even MW2 had so much fuck ups, only nubetubes and thats it. Please Treyarch….leave CoD to Infinity Ward if you want to keep your customers, because im getting fed up with u guys not doing your job right.

      Ok, after reading everyones comments, and reading the article they pertain to, i also agree that Black Ops has issues. However, saying Infinity Ward was better, or that MW2 was better with less problems,… is retarded. I Pre Ordered MW2 as well as Black Ops. I pre Ordered MW2 because i thoroughly enjoyed CoD4MW. Infinity Ward messed up badly with MW2. You say it has less problems? Bullshit. MW2 had so many problems, they could’nt fix em all if they wanted to, and THEY openly admitted it. Have you all forgotten the MW2 issues? Nukes at the beginning of a game? Host Migration worked 1 out of 5 times. People could hide in walls/floors and kill anyone walking by without ever being seen. Quick-Scoping. Impossible range for crappy shotguns.The list goes on. SO FAR my only complaint’s in Black Ops are that sometimes the connection lost crap happens and/or bad host migration, and i’m pissed that Treyarch didn’t fix THOSE problems, but happily patched every Zombie Glitch I knew (and ONLY on the PS3). Before release date i remember one of their reps saying that the “best version of Black Ops would be on the X-Box 3shitty” At the time i couldn’t wrap my mind around how that would ever be possible.. but obviously they meant to take our glitches out and ruin the ps3 version. Oh and Treyarch.. IF you read this.. you SUCK for that. AND you suck for giving us the crapiest selection of weapons in the mystery box/ and on the walls in Zombies. Congrats on ruining what was once a GREAT past time for me. I hate your Zombie levels now. You even ruined the W@W maps.. punks. Other than that.. World at War was a GREAT game for Zombies and Campaign, but most of your Multiplayer sucked. But when it comes down to it.. Infinity Ward Vs. Treyarch? I’ll stick with Treyarch. Mw2 was bull..

    Yes, this is complete B.S I can’t even reply to many posts on CallofDuty.com (on the Black Ops site) Im logged in and when I click “Reply” it sends me back to the log in screen.

    MW2 had me addicted to the franchise. I’ve put many hours, many weekends, evenings into that game. That game had multiple problems and was still fun. This game, even running smoothly is still dull. Sure I play it, but it does lack.

    I’m not ripping on you, but it freezes, lags, and you guys took away the thing that had made all of the previous CoD’s fun . . . sniping. Aren’t you supposed to take the good things from games and fix the bad things? Sniping in all the CoD’s was fun, you killed- murdered it here. I never heard anyone complain on CoD 4, Mw2 when I got a 720 QS, I heard “Oh S#%t!”

    I don’t know what it is, but it lacks. Whether it’s the intense sound from real wars (because every map I play, all I hear is gunfire or GRENADE GET OUTTA’ THERE) Some more noises, like explosions or bombs exploding in the distance would be nice.

    Maybe it’s the maps and lack of detail compared to MW2, lack of Easter Eggs and exploring. Lack of titles. In WaW you could feel the tenseness in the game, the music, voices, story, everything was perfect. Maybe you guys aren’t ready for more Modern wars. Stick to WWII and stuff. The graphics, I thought worsened and zombies is another story:

    I’ll spend four hours getting to round 42 and when I die, check the leaderboards, and it’s not there, I get pissed.

    Also, this is bullshit to release shit earlier on the Xbox, what kind of equality is that? Get your shit together and make a game “for the gamers, by the gamers” Like it used to be when CoD started out. Now its “For my pay check, by my pay check.” You guys are money hungry, self centered people and only sell because of the “Call of Duty” in the title.

    I only gave this game a chance because I played WaW and MW2. Hopefully you guys will get it right two years from now, that is, if InfinityWard makes a comeback. I have more to say, but will let you think on what I typed here today.

      Bah.. snipers suck, and personally i’m glad quickscoping is friggin gone. thats cheap-cheating is all it is. you could’nt do that with a real rifle if your life depended on it, so why should you in a game. I would REALLY love to see a game that Ixnays the Sniper class all together. And Treyarch needs to remove the sniper rifles from Zombies as well.. i mean, come on.. who EVER uses a sniper in Zombies? thats a death sentence for the player.

    I completely agree with the connection problems. But Xbox Live members pay for there online play. That is why we get the shit first. I hope they start making COD games xbox exclusive because all you PS3 faggots are annoying as fuck!!! Treyarch is charging the same amount as infinity ward did for MW2 maps. Yeah sure there one less map but the zombies map will wreck shit!!!

    i’m gonna say it now like i’ve told other people, call of duty is a dying species of games. Over charge us for a tiny shits of maps and constantly dirty the ps3 console.
    You know what activision, when it all goes down the tube then we, as fps players, will turn to someone else… like EA maybe?! In can tell from my time playing black ops that i don’t feel that epicness feeling when ever i get a good match or some good kills. MW2 may have been “broken” or some things may have been unbalanced, but i can remember that warm feeling whenever i get going in that game.
    The most fun in shooters i’ve had after MW2 was Battlefield Bad Company 2 by far. I had so much fun in that game and there was never any problems with connections or glitches, had a blast sniping and blowing shit up. Maybe it’s because they actually have dedicated servers, and as long as you are a VIP, which comes with buying the game new, you get free maps for life.
    All i know is that some may feel that sniping or quick scoping is lame and i don’t care. If you can pick up a sniper rifle, rush in towards a group of 4 people and quickscope all of them, then that is skill and i applaud you. So just fix the damn snipe rifles already, i never snipe, but when i do, i can’t…
    Fix the game or i’ll turn my attention of killzone 3 or battlefield 3 when they come out.

      Couldn’t agree more. Modern Warfare 1, World at War and even Modern Warfare Two was the last of this species and should have left it at that.

      Treyarch was trying to feed off of their positive feedback from World at War and it backfired. I’m sure they can create a very good game if Call of Duty was every two years not every other. They were rushed. If Treyarch hadn’t tried at another game, then the fans would complain. At least we know not to buy the next Treyarch CoD

ANYONE.. i mean ANYONE.. can run into a group of people with a QS sniper rifle, and tap that L1 to aquire as they tap that R1 to fire, and get multiple headshots. IF you think this would be possible IRL, i’d ask you to keep trying bub, cause it ain’t gonna happen. Thats where at least SOME sense of reality hit the CoD franchise. Buh-Bye Now Quickscopers.         Yes of course he would go out and try to kill several people by trying to quickly look down a scope and fire. In Mike’s whole comment when did he ever say that it was possible to do that. By the way, you say that “at least SOME sense of reality hit the CoD franchise. To me this means that you say that they made the sniper rifles slightly more “realistic” while leaving all the other guns unrealistic even though you continuously post comments refering this game to real life.

    How bad of a problem can a game have that even the people who seel them refer you to something else?

    I had heard about problems on black ops but i wasnt really all that aware of what they were exactly, I drove over to Gamestop to buy my copy, and as I layed it on top of the counter and the clerk turned around to sell it to me, Thankfully he stopped me and told me about all this crap.
    I later got to play the game on my friends console and i noticed alot of what he talked about even more. I got to borrow it for abit and i noticed tons of lag, long loading screens and even my weapon dissapeared. It happened everytime, i would play Gun Game, and everytime i got to the grim reaper rocket launcher, it would constantly go up and down like i was swapping weapons with my guys hand litteraly sliding back and fourth until it was completely gone from my screen and as i aimed there was no sight to aim through, nothing. Just a shaking screen.
    I saved 60$ that day thanks to a true gamer who didnt want to see something like that happen to others.

    Im actualy considering going back to gamestop and handing that man the 60$ i would’ve payed as a thank you.

      Unfortunately, I was not that lucky. I had rented BFBC2 before and loved the game. During the time I was playing MW2 so I was addicted to that. Now after playing Black Ops I think I might but BFBC2 (or either wait for Mass Effect) I mean come on Treyarch!

      I am reading the comments. Yes, I do agree about that “warm feeling” after doing good in a game. That is completely gone from this game. Most likely due to the fact that it takes NO SKILL to rape in this game. Because Treyarch wants “balance.” When they try to create “balance” all the Veterans due fucking awesome.

I traded it in the day black ops came out for a measely 12 bucks.. and i was HAPPY to see it go. There, unfortunately, will ALWAYS be people who play with douchebag “tactics” (if they can even be called such), and there will always be someone ruining the fun of the game. Its a sad fact, but a true one nonetheless. Now, when someone can run and gun like i do, and beat me that way.. FAIR and SQUARE, then i give em props. when they have to find a spot to back up against and camp, or worse.. spawn-camp, then they are a waste of time as far as i’m concerned and not worth playing a game with. Hell they arent worth the money they payed for their console and game.
        People will always cheat, sneak, connive, con, lie, copy, pirate, steal, or use any other type of evil advantage to come out on top, in anything in life. whats up to us is to decide who IS NOT like these losers, and associate ourselves with them. find yourselves a big group of online friends and play with them, to avoid playing with any (or at least, not as much) douchebags out there that ruin everyone elses game. :)

    I haven’t noticed a whole lot of issues, there has been the occasional kick and disconnections. Sometimes i get freezes and have to turn my ps3 on and off. The 2 things that i have noticed the most are not being able to make a party with any of my mates, i haven’t been able to do that in weeks. Ive only ever actually been able to get in a party about 4 times in the last month. The other thing is i notice is near the bottom right corner is says some NAT thing and all that, it wasn’t there before BO patch 1.05. I’m getting really sick and tired with this crap. Activision are money hungry bastards, Treyarch suck at making COD. I’m just thankful they didn’t add tanks! Honestly, I’m not buying next years COD, there’s many more games that i would rather get next year anyway, especially in November with the likes of Uncharted 3, Mass Effect 3 and i think Batman: Arkham City coming out and honestly i don’t care about the next COD game, especially considering its coming from a brand new developer who have never actually made a video game yet, so there’s no way in hell I’m going to buy another COD game, the series may be making more money than they ever have but its also falling downhill and will continue to fall. Until Activision loses its biggest asset and profit maker.

You can take COD if you want, theres a million other 1st Person Shooters out there and just the way Racing games died, FPS’s will die too, why? because there are to many made. Every year theres more and more FPS’s made, just the same as Racing games before them. Honestly i (a PS3 enthusiast) would prefer to play Uncharted, inFAMOUS, Killzone, Resistance, Twisted Metal, The Last Guardian, Mass Effect 2 & 3 next year over playing another COD game, which by the way are the same as all the other COD games, lousy single players, multiplayer whilst good, are repetitive. Even if they add a couple of things like creating and editing things that dont even matter its still just the same crap over and over again!

    black ops is completely screwed, they cannot make crap in to better crap due to the fact that since infinity ward has not mad this cod game and treyarch has stepped up to do it the gameplay is terrible everything about it people have been jumping on modern warfare 2 as a escape from the bull crap that you deal with when you play black ops, i think cod should really take a breather and use some cognitive thinking and make the game everyone wants, not one that “allows you to personalize” or allows you to do contracts, it takes away from the fun of having to actually be good by the fact that in black ops you can simply buy everything, as in modern warfare 2 you had to earn your camo’s your attachments your everything just by skill. please listen to the people who are critiquing your game and make steps to come out with a better new game completely or just put a lot more work in the gameplay on black ops

    The best part about all of this is that when the next Call of Duty game comes out, everyone will still end up buying it. Everyone complains complains complains and yet they’re still online playing. People focus so much on the bad that they forget about the good.

    Black Ops may have it’s issues but it’s waaaay more fun than MW2 when playing online (except for spec ops versus zombies, at least with spec ops it was something original and fun.) I have the ps3 version and I haven’t had near the problems that people speak of. I get the disconnect message every so often but it’s nothing to be all up in arms about.

      I for one, will not. Black Ops is it for me in CoD. I almost gave up with MW2, but toughed it out. Aside from the new Zombie maps, the crappy box weapons, and the fact they patched all the GOOD and USEFUL Zombie glitches,.. Black Ops is the best CoD title to date.

    The only problem i had is when i was playing with my bud it didnt show the blue triangle on the mini map but did not have any connection errors or freezing like the last update.

    So, I haven’t played Black Ops since the release of 1.04, which completely ruined the game for me by making the multiplayer unplayable. I said to myself that I will play after the next patch. So, I download patch 1.05, and I notice the same problems right off the bat! I grabbed my phone and put it into stopwatch mode, and took some notes just to get a log of what was happening, see if I am not just exaggerating how frustrating this game is. Here’s how my playing experience went:

    Game 1: Lobby closed shortly after joining lobby
    Game 2: Game loaded on map WMD, teams were 4 vs 2, which is unplayable
    Game 3: Wait 2 minutes, after which point it creates it’s own lobby and it waits forever for 5 more players.
    Game 4: Starts a full 12 player game, but connection interruption and lost connection to host after 2 minutes in-game.
    Game 5: Loads map Radiation with 11 players, just as we are going to start playing there are 2 host migrations, then connection interrupted and lost connection to host.
    Game 6: Joined 12 player game on Havana with 8 min. to play. Host Migration after 2 minutes and then Connection Interrupted and Lost Connection With Host
    Game 7: Joined 12 player lobby, and FINALLY played a full match on WMD!

    Total time it took for me to find and play a full game of Team Deathmatch: 20 MINUTES 21 SECONDS! For one lousy MATCH!

    This is unplayable by just about anyone’s standards. People are not exaggerating, and this is obviously not how a game should be running.

    Here we are, two days until Christmas, and it is a very real possibility that thousands of kids (and adults for that matter) are going to end up with a gift that DOES NOT WORK!

    Perhaps this holiday season will be the final kick in the pants for Treyarch and Activision.

    hey guys, right now, the only game that can drive sales, the only one, is call of duty. this is the game where microsoft will “invest” the most money, no matter how much. 10 millions? 20? 50 millions? it’s like we were buying a big mac.

    next call of duty version , that will be released in 2011 will sell 10 millions units, or more. in 2012, it will sell 13 or 14 millions. and so one. in all those millions, just imagine how many hundred thousand guys will buy a console just to play this game. these buyers are sooo soo important, you can’t just let the market decide. you need to lend a hand and make it so people will buy YOUR console, and not the other, because in your console your game is running smooth, network will be perfect, will be the first to get dlc, everything will be almost flawless, when the other console, poor console, the game will be fucked up, it will be unplayable, will get shitty patches, so everyone will hate the game and the console. will treyarch lose 3 millions ps3 buyers for the next call of duty? no problem, microsoft simply will pay treyarch those 3 million games.

    the more people buy xbox version of call of duty, the more the online community will grow, more people will come, more people will buy xbox, and so on.

    after bungie become multi, call of duty became THE GAME to protect, the game that will make the difference. microsoft knows it, and again, they paid, and will pay.

    i own a ps3, i bought modern warfare, which was really cool. but now, i won’t buy black ops, and some friends of mine did the same. fuck you, treyarch, shame one you.

    you did it on purpose, you have to admit. nowadays, it’s impossible to code a game like you did, on the ps3.even if you erased 10000 lines of code, randomly, the game would still be better than it is now.

    i don’t have the game, but i feel really bad for all ps3 guys that bought your “microsoft’s dick taste” game, thinking they would be playing with mates, online, and having fun, and instead of that, they are begging you to correct the game, so they have the same pleasure xbox guys are having right now, for the same cash.

    i don’t like to be unpolite, but you really need a “fuck you all, your fucking fuckers”.

    hey ps3 guys, please spend some $, or €, or whatever, and send back the game to whatever address might be in the printed manual, and ask your mony back. if they don’t refund you, just do a class action, or whatever, there are hundreds of tv channels in USA, i bet a few of them would be interested in covering the problem.

    sorry ps3 mates, i will now play medal of honor on my ps3, a friend just gave it to me so i can try it during my holidays. even it it lasts only 6-7 hours, i bet it’s far better than “call of microsoft’s dick” treyarch game.

    I just got this game for christmas, and i have not played it yet and after hearing all this, im not sure if i even want to play it, i heard that the gameplay is great, and im pretty sure treyarch ruined the best game of the year by making this shitty patch

      If I were you, I would return it and rent it. Get a game that you already know is good. Honestly, the game would be pretty damn fun if I could play consistently, but you are going to be pissed as hell trying to play it online. The single player is cheesy as shit too. Some people may like it but I found it pretty uninspiring.

Call of Duty is not about realism, it is about balance. No shit you cant scope in that quickly in real life with a rifle that size and get a kill that easily unless you are some kind of superhuman. Third, you are such a fanboy. I own an Xbox 360 but then I sold my games to buy PS3 because more of my friends own one. No i am getting into PC gaming to change things up a bit. So since I have owned the major gaming consoles to date, I think I can safely say that no one system is completely and utterly superior. I liked Xbox a lot and still do, they have a few good First Party titles like Halo (obviously), Gears of War which in my opinion was amazing, Fable is a fun series, Allen Wake, Mass Effect was pretty damn good (1 and 2) and MS2 (and MS3) are coming to PS3 so I cannot complain there. PS3 have also have great titles like God of War, Heavy Rain and Gran Turismo 5. The only big difference is the online aspect which I find to be mostly the same and the controllers (to be honest I prefer the Xbox ones). So please, stop raving about how crap Xbox is and how the PS3 is the system of the gods. Both PS3 and Xbox have aspects unique to one another which make them both excellent systems to play on. Fourth, you say that Modern Warfare 2 is crap and Black Ops is the best CoD to date. I am not going to criticise what you say as that is your opinion but what I am going to say though is that I DO think that Infinity Ward was better. From what you say, MW2 did have problems (and still does such as undermounted grenade lauchers/OMA/DangerClose/Commando) but at least it felt rewarding. What I mean by this is that in MW2 I had to actually work for my attachments and emblems/titles. For me, that aspect made it fun because I could show off that I got Omnicide or got 500 headshots with a Deagle. Now in Black Ops I just create an emblem and buy titles. It doesnt feel as nearly as rewarding as getting that difficult challenge completed (although the emblem creator is fun for a few minutes)

    Now to my views on Black Ops. I personally have not been able to try the gameplay before this new patch as I traded mine back in before its release although I have to say it doesnt sound like the patch has done much. I think Infinity Ward did a better job on the Modern Warfare series than Treyarch did with their WWII/Cold War series. The gameplay in my opinion on Black Ops is far better than Modern Warfare 2 but Black Ops was completely unplayable due to the consistent lag and drop outs. By the way, that “bobo the clown” guy is a fucking waste of space in these comment sections. I feel very sorry for anyone who gets their kicks from posting anonymous comments about how “their” game is vastly superior compared to another systems.

    Hah, looking through the above comments, I saw someone say that Sniping/Quickscoping is cheap cheating or some shit.
    That’s bollocks, Sniping takes skill and even the most skilled quickscopers fail sometimes.

      Yeah I wish they tweaked The sniping mechanics some more so it does not have that scope sway. Also, I just really hate The way it zooms cos it feels like a jerking motion instead of a smooth magnification. Plus I think that none of the maps are actually favourable towards snipers. I mean seriously, what can you do with a sniper in this game that a FAL co M14 cant co. There just isn’t any part of a map that you could say that “man, I wish I chose that sniper over this assault rifle now”.

    Well, we PC Gamers had similar Problems(and some even still have, my buddy couldnt start even his Multiplayer before this patch came out, now he has the fucking ”Steam connection failed” error.

    But they fixed most of the problems here, and it works for me.

    Now only one left is the PS3, which seems to be fucked up so hard that you cannot blame Treyarc for not fixing it with one patch.

    Treyarch gave even the Mappack Development to Raven Software, because they have both hands full with fixing this game.

    And for the XBOX gamers here, there is no fucking reason to troll this topic, go play your ”proper” game.

    Actually, I enjoy sniping alot more in Black Ops than I have in any other game. I’ve always been a sniper, in ever game I’ve played. Without sounding egocentric, I’m a montage-worthy sniper in practically every multiplayer FPS game I’ve played.
    Sure, quick scoping was fun, and always good for that, “in your face!” moment, when you feel like a god. But when you’re like me, it gets too easy, too boring over time. Games were always short for me, and killing was too easy. Handing me a sniper was like making the other players sign their death certificate.
    What Black Ops has done, is add realism to the sniping class of gamers. Sniping now requires more strategy, thought, tactics. You have to be smart and stealthy, as a real sniper would be. It adds more flavor, and depth to that role. It’s realistic, not “OMG 360 LADDERSHOT!”
    As for any problems, i haven’t experienced any problems with actual gameplay other than lag and failed host-migrations. I’m the rare player who owns both an Xbox and PS3, and the only problem I’ve had with the PS3 was the connectivity.
    But I agree, to an extent that since I actually pay for my Xbox live account, a dedicated server should be priority. Otherwise, paying isn’t really necessary.
    As someone who knows both side of the gameplay, I can say for certain that the Xbox Live servers are much better than Playstation Network.
    But it’s free for PS3. And the problems only show up when I play Black Ops on it.
    Basically, this whole rant is summarized with, “Shut the fuck up, the sniping is fine in black ops. Just get used to it! As for the servers, try an Xbox.”
