PS3 Black Ops Post Patch 1.06 – “No Xbox Live Party Chat”?

Confusing, but not completely unexpected by PS3 Black Ops Players.  This morning, said players received Patch 1.06 to fix continued issues.   A player named “tben” quickly posted a very curious picture on the Official CoD: Black Ops Forums; a picture that shows a PS3 CoD load screen with the words, “No Xbox Live Party Chat”.

What does this mean?  Well, it’s widely believed that the Ps3 version of Black Ops is in fact a port of the Xbox Live version.  This is very curious indeed.

      They claim they spend two weeks testing the patches… but testing at most development companies is pretty bad for games as it is nvm patches. They clearly don’t test using real world conditions…

      And as for the overtone sent by the message that appears. Yeah sure there’s no MS Party chat, but Treyarch didn’t have to do any programming to make that even work for Black Oops, just paste a few lines of code from Microsoft.

      Why didn’t they put the extra time/money of not having to program that into an effort to program a better party system for PS3???

      Look at the match people….Search and Destroy…this is the same as the xbox version. this is done so people can’t cheat in the match. Party chat is allowed for other matches(i believe it’s not allowed for maybe one other match). NOT a mistake!

          a tip to ps3 users…i had a ps3…i now play on xbox..love them both systems but it does look/feel like they put more effort into the xbox version

      Honestly this is as much IW and Activision’s fault as it is anyone else’s. The COD’s online system has been broken the entire time, even back in COD4, it just has gotten worse each iteration it was never really good to begin with (especially on PS3).

      This is not exactly Treyarch’s fault and I do feel they do a great job at adding to the COD series, but they didn’t do anything to fix these massive netcode failures which Acti and IW gave birth to along with Trey.

    i didn’t buy the game, so i have no problem with it, but people who are disgusted about this bad game and trayarch support, just sell your shit for some cash, and get another game. there is a market for people that buy shit, no matter what.

    look at apple: when people buy a product from apple, they have to use LIKE apple WANTS, and not like the buyer wants.
    apple guys will say you don’t need flash player for browsing the web.believe me, I DO need flash for browsing the web the way I WANT, the websites i WANT. i won’t let apple decide HOW i should use INTERNET, i won’t let apple dictate which website i can visit or not.
    i never bought something with an apple logo on it, and never will. i can visit and see 100% of my favorite websites on my phone, with no restrictions. I Decide what content i want.

    why i’m talking about apple here? just to say no matter how a company acts with their custumers (when i see people complaining about black ops and read the million articles saying treyarch completely fucked the ps3 version and didn’t care about ps3 users at all), some people will still buy their shit. many of the guys that say “i will never buy a treyarch game again” will buy next call of duty, day one.

    right now, one of the games that can drive sales on consoles is call of duty. Do you think microsoft wouldn’t pay, say, 10 or 20 million $ just to have the best version, the best experience, the best everything on black ops? 10 millions $ for microsoft is like 10$ for
    us.

    what i hate with this shitty game and that shitty company (treyarch), is that they ruin the “image” of quality on ps3. if the game didn’t exist at all on ps3, people would simply move to xbox, and that’s all folks.

    but :

    buy making a shitty version for ps3 and making an excellent version for xbox, people will blame the whole ps3, when the ps3 is capable of delivering content that xbox simply can’t match (just tell me how many games on xbox can match god of war 3, uncharted 2, for exemple? still searching? results found : none)

    average gamer who wants to buy a console, searches for the most played game, found : call of duty-black ops, says “yeah, this game looks awesome, and start reading the ps3 version is full of bugs and treyarch wasn’t able to deliver a good game, this guy will simply start looking at xbox, when, at the beginning, he wanted to buy a ps3 system.

      I use my iPad every day, I’m typing this message out on it. I’ll hit maybe one piece flash video a fortnight. Even then I can find an alliterative link for it on YouTube without any trouble.If it’s porn you can’t live without they’ve almost all switched to HTML5 already.

      Better battery life and a browser that never crashes make it the right decision. I doubt youll see Flash supported on the 3DS or PSP2 but you won’t notice thanks to Apple leading the way and making controversial decisions.

    People are blowing the quality of the PS3 version out of proportion. The game may not play as smooth as the 360, but the game is and has not been a “broken game”. It’s not the smoothest port, but it’s still a fun single player game with solid online.

    I bought this game launch day for the PS3, I constantly felt I was not getting the 100% best experience from this game, I kept hearing how the 360 version is not having any of the problems the PS3 version is having (besides people crying over the Ak74)

    Long story short, I went out and bought a 360 so I can play black op’s the way it was ment to be played. I more than got my moneys worth.

    It don’t mean I love the PS3 any less, but if you want to play a call of duty game, it has to be done on the 360, and thats just the reality of the situation. Take the hint when it does not mention the PS3 anywhere in the commercial and all they show is XBOX advertisements…..if you didn’t know any better, they advertise the game almost like a xbox exclusive…….and at this stage, it should have been one

    I have both xbox and PS3 and I have to say that Black Ops is better on xbox simply because the graphics are sharper and xbox live gives you a better experience all round. That said the PS3 version isnt exactly unplayable so saying it shouldnt have been released is a bit harsh. Its obvious that Microsoft are in bed with Tryarch, but that is only one game of lots. I have Dead Space 2 on both machines & PS3 is far better than the xbox. In my opinion neither machine really has the edge on the other, which is why I own both. Blueray etc used to be a big deal but with single players now for £100 I dont really feel it has much bearing especially as the fan on my PS3 stops you from hearing most of the film anyway !!! Xbox fans will always rate the Xbox and PS3 fans will always say PS3…………for real game play and graphics buy a PC !!
