UK Blog Claims NGP will Play PS3 Games Remotely

A blog by GAME employee Katie “KittyKat” Rossiter claims to have some very interesting news about an exciting new feature for Sony’s upcoming hand held.  Katie claims she met with a Sony Rep who went over the NGP and a few of its unique features.

Most of the features you may have already heard, but there is one that clearly stands out.

If you are connected to Wi-Fi anywhere in the world and your PS3 is on standby at home, you can play the game in your PS3 on your NGP without the disk

If true, this could be the advantage Sony’s NGP is looking for.  Currently, there are specific PSN titles that can be played on the PSP via Remote Play.   Now upgrading this ability to play full-fledged PlayStation 3 games could give the handheld system a tremendous boost with a PS3 install base of over 40 million.

Of course, until verified, this is simply a rumor.

Doubtful. But if true, I’d imagine it works like OnLive.

I guess you guys got it all wrong, the blog says it will play games remotely from a PS3. So basically if you have NGP or PSX or something like that on your console at home and you are connected with your NGP you can play those games. I don’t think it will be able to play any game on the PS3 HDD. But seriously, i hope i’m really, really wrong! =D

This seems to be simular to the original psp’s remote play feature. The reason for this feature to be a failure on the NGP is because the NGP lacks L2 and R2 buttons. Therefore there would be no reason any good ps3 games to be played on it

This would be awesome, if it were possible, but if it WAS possible then one word will kick this feature in the face. lag.
