Cosplay Spotlight: The Women of Marvel vs. Capcom

It all comes down to this. Warriors are many, but winners are few. Who will reign supreme in this test of mettle, cosplay versus cosplay? Today, we bear witness to a showdown long overdue.  As we near the launch of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 – it’s time for the ladies to assemble!

Holy Shatner! Tron Bonne is real! Sort of… maybe? Well, LiviDoll is probably real. Maybe even that gravity-defying hair. It’s rare to find such a carefully-sculpted wig from such a ridiculous design. I can only imagine how many cans of hairspray were sacrificed in order to create this beautiful homage to a classic MegaMan anti-hero. Also, giant hair is in again. Tell your friends.

Capcom, what have you done? Cosplay juggernaut Linda Le couldn’t possibly be Morrigan of Darkstalkers in disguise… Or are they one and the same? Perhaps it’s the composition of the photo that’s wooed me. Perhaps it’s that “come hither” stare. Perhaps it’s the fact that this image has been immortalized on the internet, or that I heart Vampy irl, but I’m fairly certain the true source of my awe is the fact that this costume is just so too perfect for words.

Of course, there’s no Street Fighter without Chun-Li and I can’t find anything that I don’t like about Aoandou‘s rendition. From the quality of the materials to the sheer perfection of her likeness, I am simply overjoyed that such a cosplayer exists and that she chose to embody one of my favorite characters.

As far as I’m concerned, Phoenix_kasai is the only  C. Viper out there. She’s the first person who comes to mind when I think of this cosplay and it’s for a damn good reason. This doesn’t instantly come across as a complex cosplay, but the hair can make or break it. Phoenix knocked it out of the park and it won’t be coming back any time soon. Whatever “it” is. Another Street Fighter girl ten out of ten.

While I will never accept Jill Valentine as a blond, Spif has proven that this cosplay can be done insanely well. Wesker be damned. The quality of the materials shows and adds another level of authenticity. She even nailed the rivets in the back. Click the link for evidence. The pictures just get better and better.

Obligatory catgirl? Wait, no. It’s just Felicia from Darkstalkers, cosplayed by Precious. It takes some fierce confidence to walk out of the house covered in patches of white fur and bravo for doing so. Bravo times ten for rocking the Jem 80′s hair-do. Though I don’t blame you, Precious. I blame Japan.

Aer understands the power of Phoenix. And spandex. Together, Aer and spandex create a beautiful combination of butt-kicking and excellence. While Jean Gray may not be the coolest X-men (coughRoguecough), I’d be stupid not to have Phoenix on my team of mutants.

Oh! Right! Rogue! Well, this isn’t Rogue, but Barb has a great Rogue cosplay. This X-23 cosplay is also great. It may not be the most obvious variation of the costume, but it’s well made and downright fierce. The claws, man. The claws. They hurt. But the craftsmanship and accuracy just feels so good.

You thought we’d forget She-Hulk? How dare you. She-Hulk cannot be forgotten. She-Hulk smash your face into your computer. Oh. Wait. No, this is actually BelleChere cosplaying as She-Hulk, but I’m not about to walk up to her and ask her for spare change. She’ll kick my ass straight back to yesterday.
