Have The Sony NGP Model Types and Price Been Outed?

A PSP fansite known as PSPgweber claims to have received inside information including the price of Sony’s Upcoming handheld currently known as the NGP.  The site claims that the information as acquired from an interview with a “Sony Insider”.  Any hints to the position of this source or further information is absent.  Here’s what they said,

There will be two different models (Standard Model and 3G Model) for the Next Generation Portable. The standard model will have a price list between $250 to $280. For the model with 3G support, players will able to play online in anywhere over the wireless network, as long as you subscribed with a provider. The price list will be between $320 to $350. The 3G version will also come with some extra pre-loaded applications which will make use of the 3G capabilities such as Augmented Reality.

While the prices are definitely within the range of probability, a rumor is a rumor until a more “official” announcement is made.

If the NGP comes out at $250… it’ll be in a VERY good place to take the 3DS head on.

To be honest, I’m looking at the standard NGP being priced at $269.99. $100 more than the original PSP. It’s not that far from the 3DS and it’s not too expensive either. The 3G model should be priced at $299.99.

I love/hate Sony for the PSP systems. I love how the graphics are great and I can play PS games on them. But Sony fails this every time! I HAVE BIG HANDS! While the Japanese are small statured, and thus have small hands, the PSP might be comfortable for them. It isn’t for people with Big hands and really hurts my thumb.
