Steam Update Brings Better Voice Chat

Valve have announced that Steam’s voice chat system has been upgraded, giving a better quality of voice communication on the platform.

The new system- the SILK audio codec- is used in Skype, the most popular Voice over IP (VoIP) software in the world. It uses variable bandwidth between 8 and 30 kbps so it might be using a bit more pipe space but the quality will be much better.

The update is live right now, so go and have a chat or something, whatever you kids do these days.
