New Dungeon Siege III Trailer Highlights New Playable Character

Ok, color me excited because one of my favorite RPG francises, (besides Diablo), is getting it’s next iteration on June 21 – Dungeon Siege III. I’ve been a fan since the beginning when Gas Powered Games released Dungeon Siege in 2002. It’s been 6 long years since the sequel and though I’ve enjoyed the PSP version, DS: Throne of Agony, I’ve been patiently waiting and now that wait is almost over!! Not only is DS III coming out this summer with amazing graphics, better gameplay and story, but now we’ve also got another character (1 of 4) that we can choose to play. His name is Reinhart Manx and he’s a bad ass mage who is extremely effective in battle. Just take a look at this trailer and see what he can do!

Descended from a long line of Legion mages, Reinhart has spent most of his life at the Collegium, in the city of Stonebridge, immersed in the study and practice of magic. Reinhart is known for his unconventional thinking and innovative magical techniques.

A scholar of arcane magic, Reinhart warps the forces of creation and destruction to his will.  His Entropic magic can blast a wide area with life-extinguishing force, though it leaves him open to attack. It is perfect for destroying crowds of enemies, as long as he keeps them at a distance. His Dynamic magic is channeled through an arcane gauntlet and capacitor. It creates deadly currents of energy with a mere motion of his hand, allowing Reinhart to quickly incapacitate a single target at close range.

Reinhart is unlike any other magician before him.  Rather than avoid the front line of combat, he will often teleport directly into the fray to deliver massive uppercuts that hurl the enemy back.

Okay, a class system. I think I can dig it? I mean, that’s completely different than the Dungeon Siege I know and love… but it can work?

Ugh, why couldn’t they keep it as a basic leveling system. You start out with a bow, spell book, and sword. If you swing your sword, you can do more meelee damage. If you shoot your bow, you start getting your ranged up. As you use more spells, your spells do more damage.

Why couldn’t they stick with the good Dungeon Siege mechanics?

Still getting it nonetheless, just disappointed.
