Borderlands 2 Pops Up On Artist Resume – Pitchford Denies Existence

After the huge success of the original Borderlands and all its post launch content, it was a bit of a no-brainer that a sequel would be made. I mean, the gameplay rocked, the style was great and it was a fresh idea!

Well it would appear that Borderlands 2 has been outed sooner then we would’ve expected, with concept artist James Mosingo listing on his resume that he did post production work for the title.

This Has Since Been Removed

However, Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox Software (the creators of Borderlands), has dismissed the claims saying;

“If I had to guess… I know last year – around September or October of last year when we were wrapping up the Clap Trap’s New Robot Revolution DLC – we hired some contractors to help us blue sky brainstorm some things that were HUD related (among other things) when we were starting to think about what to do next with the Borderlands franchise.

It’s possible this guy was a subcontractor for one of those groups we were working with. None of that stuff really ended up going anywhere, though.”

So whilst an official reveal isn’t imminent, Pitchford did in fact state that Gearbox would be revisiting the universe, saying;

“I can tell you that myself and everyone at Gearbox LOVES Borderlands and we have been absolutely thrilled at the reception it’s gotten from our customers and the fact that it’s sold over four million units now.

So you can see that we supported the game like mad with lots of great DLC and you can imagine that we’re going to want to do a lot of things with Borderlands in the future.”

Is this the truth or just some misdirection and damage control from Rand-dog?  Many people think that an E3 reveal of Borderlands 2 is in the works hot on the heels of the Duke Nukem Forever release… but only time will tell.

One thing is for sure, we’re all pretty hype for Borderlands 2, are you?
