Kevin Butler Lets Fan Know What He Thinks of the PSN Outage

Kevin Butler is a well known ‘celebrity’ round these parts thanks to Playstation’s advertising campaigns. They leave me in hysterics, and it was an excellent move on behalf of Sony to employ him as VP of everything.

However, as reported all over the internet as of late, the Playstation Network has encountered a lengthy amount of downtime, leaving many fans like impatient PS3 owner Joe Hagofsky in the lurch.

P.S: This is obviously a joke, and should be interpreted as nothing more or less.

    I have worked as a network administrant; built, pen tested, and rebuilt networks from the bottom up. It just doesn’t take this long to rebuild a network… true, they could have been deeply compromised but I find it hard to believe there wasn’t a plan in place to deal with an incident such as this. Large networks should be logging any potentially anomalous traffic. Backup servers should be strategically positioned and ready to put into play. Also, if you’re trying to track a perpetrator you don’t pull the plug… how does one trace them then? Besides, they should already have logs… ideally a machine that doesn’t do anything but sniff the wire and log traffic. No, this is just bizarre, and seems inexcusable, but I’m not going to go and buy an Xbox 360 and pay for a lesser consoles service just because I am missing out on playing Demons Souls pop for a week.

      Lesser console? ha! Xbox Live is a superior service and the games that come out on both consoles look and play identical. I own both systems so I would know. Your either too cheap to pay for your gaming service or your a Sony fanboy in either case its your loss. I’ll be playing all of the exclusives across both consoles and have a much better experience on my main, Xbox 360. If you had any friends you’de know Xbox live is superior. Party Voice Chat & Voice Messages while I can play or watch anything… how is your “superior” console doing on that?

    I understand that the network needs to be down in order for them to rebuild everything and enhance security. That’s completely fine with me.
    But when they give us one update every one to two days just to tell us it’ll be a little more time, that’s when I get a little frustrated.

    That’s not to say I’ll be switching back over to Xbox though.
    I’ll stick out a couple more days playing Portal 2 on Ps3 instead of playing Call of Duty with 5 year olds for $60 a year.

    Nothing’s wrong with my PlayStation 3′s WiFi or wired connection. I can still play games. You can browse the web etc., you just can’t log in. :P
