Nexon Posts 59% Revenue Growth On Heels of Maple Story and Vindictus Success

Nexon announced today that Nexon America, Inc., grew 59 percent in the first quarter of this year in comparison to the first quarter of 2010. First quarter sales have a tendency to decline seasonally in contrast with the rest of the year, which makes this jump seem more significant.

Daniel Kim, CEO of Nexon America, said the following:

“Our success is the result of our ability to deliver engaging content that our players find valuable, whether they are playing for free or purchasing items in our games. The substantial growth we are experiencing in North America is a reflection of how well Nexon is doing globally.  We are growing our traditional MMOG business as well as expanding into other platforms such as the mobile and social games, which will help to expand our global reach and the number of people playing our games.”

Nexon is known for its MMOGs, Maple Story being one of the most prominent. All of their games are microtransaction-based, so the games are technically free, but players may choose to purchase in-game items to enhance their experience.

At this year’s E3, Nexon will be showing Dragon Nest and Vindictus. Dragon Nest and the Facebook game MapleStory Adventures are scheduled for a release this summer in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Hopefully these new releases will further impact Nexon in a positive way!
