WoW Gamers Dig Deep, Make Wishes Come True To The Tune of $800k

The Make-A-Wish Foundation has received an $800,000 gift from Activision-Blizzard. The donation was sourced from the sale of an in-game pet, the Moonkin Hatchling, across November and December of 2010.

As high profile supporters of the Foundation, Blizzard also made a $1.1M donation in February 2010 from the sale of in-game pet the Pandaren Monk.

Players bought the pets from the Blizzard store for $10, with half of that money going to the Foundation. Right now players can buy a Cenarion Hatchling, an in-game pet from whom 100% of the $10 purchase price is being donated to the American Red Cross’s Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami relief efforts.

It’s fantastic to see Blizzard and WoW gamers making such a positive contribution to the world and it’s equally as fantastic to see positive commentary in the mainstream news about gamers.

Thanks and well done from RipTen to all involved.
