Sony’s Next Console (PS4) Already In Development?

Sony have seemingly confirmed that a follow-up to the PlayStation 3 is currently in development. Could we see the PS4 at E3?

In an investor relations call, Sony’s executive vice president and chief financial officer Masaru Kato said:

“For the home equipment the PS3 still has a product life, but this is a platform business, so for the future platform – when we’ll be introducing what product I cannot discuss that – but our development work is already under way, so the costs are incurred there.”

So could we see a PS4 at E3 this year? I doubt it, personally, because I think this is an investor-targeted response to Nintendo’s new system, Project Café. Any thoughts? Leave a comment.

    Ehhh, I think it’s WAY too early for an announcement. Sony will be focusing on NGP (as they should) and stuff like PSP remasters, trying to once again apologize for the PSN outage and boast things like 50million PS3s sold at this year’s conference. An announcement for next year’s E3? Yeah quite possibly, with a release date rolling out in 2013 sometime is my prediction.

    I think both Sony and Microsoft will hold off any kind of announcement and just sit back to see what Nintendo is up to with the whole Cafe project.

    Im going to be brutally honest and say F&CK Sony, I bought a 360 during the outage and will never look back…I had never even played or touched a 360 before and I wish I would have bought one a long time ago.. Again f*ck sony

    i remember seeing pictures of the ps3 in 2005 and the controller looked the same as it looks here. i don’t think there is a need to change it that radically.
