E3 2011: Rise of Nightmares – Trailer

Sega have made a brave move, stepping into the world of full-bodied combat with Rise of Nightmares. If any of you play Ubisoft’s “Fighters Uncaged” you’ll know just how appallingly the Kinect’s control method can translate into fighting games but it’s still such a great conceptual use of the Kinect that I welcome Sega’s survivalist horror approach.

According to Sega’s press, the player will be “trapped in a nightmare-world of zombies, monsters and hellish scientists” where “the only way out is to fight”. I’m hoping this really is the adult title that Sega are promising, my Kinect has been gathering dust since a day after I brought it home and desperately needs a killer app for adult players.

As we reported in April, Rise of Nightmares will be ‘M’ rated, which hopefully paves the way for more adult releases.

Check out this live-action teaser.
