Apogee Launches New Online Store – Come Get Some Classics

Yes, Apogee Software is still in business. Apparently, when they aren’t making mediocre Duke Nukem DS games, they’re busy hocking their old classics like Rise of the Triad.
In case you forgot or weren’t alive yet, Apogee pretty much invented this whole digital distribution thing. Remember shareware? We give you the first episode of Wolfenstein-3D and then you buy the rest! Wooooohoooo… memories.
Anyhow, here’s the press release from a basement in Texas:
Apogee announces the launch of its new online store. Gamers can access some of Apogee’s favorite legacy titles, including the King himself in Duke Nukem 3D, Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, and the Apogee “Legacy Pack.” The Legacy Pack is a collection of classic Apogee games including, Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition, Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, Rise of the Triad: Dark War, Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold, and Blake Stone: Planet Strike all for the low price of $19.99. However, till Monday, June 20th, you can get $5.00 off the price by typing in the Coupon Code “Father.” Additionally, as a bonus for ordering the Legacy Pack, you will receive at no additional cost Extreme Rise of the Triad and the soundtrack to Duke Nukem: Critical Mass with 10 ego-pumping songs.
Apogee was a pioneer in digital distribution 25 years ago, before the rise of the console. Apogee’s unique digital distribution method gained industry-wide acceptance, and came to be known as the “Apogee Model”.
“Apogee fostered young development teams creating a global audience through its digital distribution platform,” says Terry Nagy, Apogee’s Chief Creative Officer. “Apogee will continue its tradition by providing a platform for new developers to access a global market…our online store being the first step in this direction.”
So, go Get Some at their new store or just goto GoG.com who does this whole thing way better anyhow.
