New Batman: Arkham City Details Revealed

Here’s a nice batch of Batman: Arkham City news to kick off with this Friday. Let’s take this one at a time, shall we? First, we had a surprising revelation relating to The Penguin and his voice actor. Any guesses? No? Ok. Well, it looks like Nolan North is going to be quite busy this year. That’s right; Rocksteady’s very own Dax Ginn has just revealed to CVG that Nolan North will be the voice of Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin) in Arkham City (what a twist!).
Penguin, along with Solomon Grundy (Born on a Monday!), was the most recent character reveal. But, according to Dax Ginn, both of those characters aren’t the last members of Bat’s rogues gallery to be revealed. Speaking with PLAY in regards to Rocksteady’s method of revealing characters, Ginn stated:
“We’re pretty strict at Rocksteady in terms of what assets we allow out of the studio, and everyone knows how important it is to make those reveals have as much impact as possible… we’ve still got some more reveals to come.”
Then Ginn goes on to speak about their interpretations of well-known villains from the comics, as well as touching on the more obscure characters:
“We reinterpret those characters – you can see our reinterpretation of The Riddler is pretty dark, our interpretation of Penguin is really dark – so [DC/Warner] give us a lot of creative freedom to push those characters in really interesting directions. But, much like Arkham Asylum, we really want to make sure there’s a load of obscure nods to other aspects of Batman’s history as well, because Batman fans really dig that stuff.”
Lastly, it has now been confirmed to Eurogamer that the alternate outfits revealed thus far for Batman in Arkham City (The Dark Knight Returns, 70s, Batman Beyond, Earth One, BTAS) will in fact be eventually available as DLC. No price points or actual release dates were given, but they’ll most likely start arriving shortly after the game’s launch on October 18.
And last, but certainly not least it, seems that Rocksteady has a big reveal planned for Gamescom later this month, according to Eurogamer. What character/villain will be revealed? Or will it be confirmation that Robin, like Catwoman, will serve as a major player in the main story (perhaps even be playable)? We’ll find out in just a few weeks time. Oh, and check out that neat new image above, it comes to us courtesy of USA Today.
