360 Version of Minecraft to Launch in Beta
Minecraft is a huge game. It finally hit 3 million users recently, and a version for the Xbox 360 is finally coming. That’s the good news. The bad news, depending on your outlook, is that the 360 version is getting the same treatment as the PC version–beta first, complete version later. As for when “later” is, we don’t know, but Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson says that updates on the XBLA version will be infrequent and mods won’t be available at launch for fear of breaking the system. Notch also went on to say that he wants to discern which parts of the game are fun on console before it releases, and thinks that the Kinect features will be an “interesting” part of the game.
