Video Games Blamed for London Riots
Here we go again. Video games are once again getting a bad rap without any real proof other than word of mouth. The London Riots that have been occuring over the past two days have nothing to do with any of the Grand Theft Auto games, right? Apparently they do, as an officer spoke to the London Evening Standard and explains why the sandbox crime game is responsible for over 160 arrests across the city.
“These are bad people who did this. Kids out of control. When I was young it was all Pac-Man and board games. Now they’re playing Grand Theft Auto
and want to live it for themselves.”
Under the officer’s logic, shouldn’t there have beeen a bunch of cannibal related murders during Pac-Man’s run? I mean, if we’re making baseless claims just to slam video games, then with his logic, I’m going to steal from a sex shop and brutally beat someone to death with a dildo sometime after Saints Row: The Third comes out. You know, because I want to live that experience for myself.
