PS3 Update 3.70 Gives Auto Cloud Saving to PS+ Users, Everyone Else Gets Jack Sh!t

If you have a sibling, you’ll hear this from one parent at some point in your life: “We don’t have a favorite.”

After reading this, it’s pretty clear that Sony does play favorites. The Firmware 3.70 update for the PSN will enable the automatic syncing of Trophies to a player’s online profile, along with automatic online game saves. Whenever you first boot up a game, you’ll be asked if you want to enable automatic online saves for the game in question.

All that sounds pretty sweet, yeah? The kicker is that both of those features are available only to Playstation Plus users. Us normal PSN people will get a recommendation feature that allows you to recommend specific content from the PS Store to our friends. We’ll also get a “TV/Video Services” section in the XMB where you can find Netflix and Hulu. If a video was bought from the Store, however, it’ll stay in the same “video” section of the XMB. There are also some updates being added that’ll give you expanded capabilities when watching 3D Blu-Ray movies.  Whoop de do.

Auto trophy sync I see could be something a normal user could use… but auto downloads and auto save uploads obviously are something you’re going to pay for with Plus.

Honestly, Sony needs to keep pumping stuff into PS+ to make it more appealing to gamers… if they just release everything to the general audience…. no one would buy plus.

On that note, I enjoy the benefit of Plus. At first I thought it would never be worth it for me… but I’ve gotten a ton of free games and superb discounts that add up to much more that the $50/yr asking price.

I haven’t got the money, Sony.
