The original Borderlands offered it’s own bit deathmatch in the form of player arena duels, but what about a full fledged deathmatch multiplayer mode?  Well, Gearbox says it’s a possibility.

In a recent interview with NowGamer, Gearbox was asked if they ever considered traditional deathmatch style multiplayer in Borderlands.  Gearbox replied that yes, it’s something they’re still considering, but they’re obviously not talking about anything quite yet.

“Yeah, we did. It’s something that we’re still thinking about and we’re not talking about any aspects of that yet. We already smashed two genres together to create one so let’s not get too ahead of ourselves [laughs] It really eats into our development time to make the main core game as solid as possible.”

With Borderlands 2 focused on co-op style gameplay, would traditional multiplayer modes like TDM or even CTF fit well in the Borderlands universe? Only time will tell.
