Netflix Co-Founder and CEO Reed Hastings posted in a blog post last night that Netflix will begin offering Video Game Rentals in the same way it now does DVDs. The announcement is part of a bigger revamp that is happening due to the recent outcry over the separation of DVD and streaming services that Netflix offers. To quote the blog post:

One improvement we will make at launch is to add a video games upgrade option, similar to our upgrade option for Blu-ray, for those who want to rent Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 games. Members have been asking for video games for many years, and now that DVD by mail has its own team, we are finally getting it done.

The new combined DVD and Game service is known as Qwikster, and is separate from Netflix, even having its own website. Check out the full blog post here or look below for a short intro video to the new service by the Netflix founders.

Can we get a gaming streaming service next, please?
