The ‘Guns’ in Gears 3 Get DLC That You Have to Buy. Seriously.

Gears of War 3 curb stomps its way onto the 360 tomorrow, and there’s been a lot of buzz about its DLC. We know of the Season Pass that gives you the first four DLC packs for 2400 MSP, but what about your guns? Do you want to see them in different colors, such as a rainbow or inverted? Maybe something like in Red Faction: Armageddon, where you could unlock a unicorn that shits deadly rainbows?

Epic Games’ Rod Fergusson spoke on a vodcast recently regarding the matter. The game’s five main weapons–the Lancer, Retro Lancer, Hammerburst, Gnasher, and Sawed-Off Shotgun–will have 21 skins each. The price of these will range from 240 MSP for the static skins and 320 MSP for the animated skins. Fergusson also confirmed that you can buy them in packs, either a specific weapon for 1200 MSP each, or all the weapons for 3600 MSP. The aforementioned season pass doesn’t cover the gun DLC, save for the Liquid Metal Weapon set.

I can’t imagine anyone paying up just for some dinky weapon skins. But then again, I also thought a network like the PSN was completely safe, or that cosplay was simple as hell to do. I’ve been wrong before.
