Big Mass Effect 3 Announcement Coming Soon. Is It Multiplayer?

At EA‘s press conference in Vegas today, press were treated to some news regarding something big for Mass Effect 3. EA employee Andy Katkin said that the embargo will lift in the next few days and according to him, it’s “big news that a lot of you have been eagerly awaiting!”

I’m not a betting man, but I’d bet my house and everything in it that the announcement is multiplayer-related. We’ve had this rumor before in magazines and in comments from Bioware employees themselves, so it seems rather likely.  The only other two ideas I’ve got in my head is the first pre-rendered trailer for a Female Shepard, which would make a lot of people happy, or a real life Omni-Blade now available for pre-order! Wishful thinking, I know, but come on…a real life Omni-Blade.  Sweeeeeeeet.

Mass Effect 3 Paragons its way into stores on March 6 for the PS3, 360, and PC. Got any bets on what the big announcement will be?

    multiplayer is just not good for mass effect. But a two or three player co-op will just be great!

    probably vega’s voice actor- apparently hes some high profile celebrity, thats why theyre keeping it hushed? hopefully its the multiplayer announcement saying that there will be no multiplayer, just co-op

    My guess would be the ME3 demo that we’re supposed to be able to download; when its released and all that. They’ve gotta release it so there’s a few months’ time before ME3, make it worth downloading, so that’s my bet.

    i would prefer co-op, mass effect 3 needs more vehicles.  The hammerhead was ok but we need better!  I liked the mako.

    Why do people claim MP would be bad? It would open new doors for gamers that wouldn’t have usually played the ME series may actually pick up single player and go “Sweet i want to play the first 2!” They can still make a MP game and keep all the single player Elements. Be more open minded my Fellow ME lovers. I mean seriously, come on…

      it is becuz of games like COD that i dont want mp in me3. and to be honest i dont give a rats ass about new players. bioware should focus on the story and campaign rather than listen to ea ruin another amazing series

      I hear what you are saying, but I don’t love Mass Effect because it’s popular and lot’s of people want to play it. I love it because the game play, story and universe are excellent, and I think that can only be negatively effected by MP.

    I will take that bet.  Especially since the head developers have stated, on their own website, multiple times, that there will be no multiplayer.  (as the for the magazine’s, the article simply mentioned the rumors circulating around about mp)

    I doubt it has multiplayer Casey Hudson himself said it will not be a multiplayer game. Maybe they are releasing who the voice over actor is for James Vega it is supposed to be a big deal

    guys the announcement will 99% not be multiplayer. bioware employees have denied it countless of times. My guess is that it will be space combat because when gameinformer asked bioware about this they said they were not ready to discuss that topic.
